How to achieve the MCIPS certification?

In my article “How Can I Start Your CIPS Qualifications With L4M5 Commercial Negotiation Certification Exam?“, we have listed all the three entry level CIPS qualifications:

  • CIPS Level 2 Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations
  • CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations
  • CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply

You can start at any level to CIPS qualification. However, you are highly recommended to complete higher level to complete the full CIPS qualification, the most important, you can complete the MCIPS certification. To achieve the MCIPS certification, you must first have +30 hours CPD and a current CIPS Ethics Certificate, then you need to complete three level of CIPS qualifications:

  • CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Procurement and Supply
  • CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply
  • CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply

CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply

CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualification will help you to grow in confidence, improve organisational procurement and fulfill objectives. It is not an entry qualification, you can start this highest level at CIPS Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Procurement and Supply. Building on the practical knowledge and understanding gained at the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply, your learning of CIPS Level 5 qualification will focus on:

  1. Key aspects of risk in supply chains and mitigation of those risks
  2. Processing and evaluating contracts
  3. Understanding the impact of legal implications when contracts are breached
  4. The different approaches to managing teams and individuals
  5. Sustainability and the managerial approaches that promote ethical practices

CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualification requires candidates to complete 5 core mudules for 42 credits:

  • L5M1 Managing Teams and Individuals (12 Credits)
  • L5M2 Managing Supply Chain Risk (6 Credits)
  • L5M3 Managing Contractual Risk (6 Credits)
  • L5M4 Advanced Contract & Financial Management (12 Credits)
  • L5M5 Managing Ethical Procurement and Supply (6 Credits)

Then, choose three elective mudules of six for 18 credits:

  • L5M6 Category Management (6 Credits)
  • L5M7 Achieving Competitive Advantage Through the Supply Chain (6 Credits)
  • L5M8 Project and Change Management (6 Credits)
  • L5M9 Operations Management (6 Credits)
  • L5M10 Logistics Management (6 Credits)
  • L5M15 Advanced Negotiation (6 Credits)

CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply

CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply takes you all the way on your professional journey to becoming MCIPS Chartered. When you complete the CIPS Level 4 and CIPS Level 5, you can come to CIPS Level 6 to make a real impact in your career. As the great topic, CIPS Level 6 is recognised by employers world-wide for producing competent and confident procurement and supply professionals, capable of guiding and leading their organisations to sustainable success.

To complete CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply qualification, you must complete four modules for 42 credits:
